Leahy BTV is the second airport in New England to achieve this accreditation.

"I am grateful to our airport team for their hard work and intentional effort to reach this Level 1 Airport Carbon Accreditation," said Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak. "This Accreditation is an important milestone for the Airport, and for the City of Burlington, as we work to create a climate resilient community."
Airport Carbon Accreditation is globally recognized as the leading certification program for carbon management at airports, providing a rigorous, independent assessment of efforts to measure and reduce carbon emissions. Achieving Level 1 accreditation underscores Leahy BTV’s dedication to accurately quantifying greenhouse gas emissions, including those from building systems, vehicles, and equipment.
“This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility,” said Nic Longo, Director of Aviation, Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport. “Reaching Airport Carbon Accreditation Level 1 is just the beginning of our journey. We are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint, improving operational efficiency, and collaborating with our partners to create a greener and more sustainable future for our airport and greater community.”
This milestone marks the start of an expanded sustainability journey and continued commitment with airport partners like Beta Technologies.
Leahy BTV is committed to advancing its environmental efforts, working toward higher levels of accreditation, and driving measurable carbon reductions. The airport also plans to broaden its initiatives to address third-party emissions as part of a comprehensive strategy for environmental stewardship.
