Travel Smart, Travel Often, Travel BTV
2020 marks a century of aviation at Burlington International Airport. Nestled between two iconic features of the State’s landscape — the Green Mountains to the east and Lake Champlain to the west, BTV is a stunning way to welcome visitors to Vermont. From George Gray to Amelia Earheart and John F. Kennedy, BTV has been a gateway to Vermont for generations of travelers.
100 Year Celebration
The story of BTV is one of continuous evolution, beginning with the fascination of early flight and the determination of local aviation pioneers. Throughout its history, the airport has been shaped by scores of hard-working people with innovative ideas, a get-it-done attitude and, above all, a love of flight. Throughout the year BTV will celebrate its centennial through events, displays and community engagements.
History and culture are part of the future at BTV.
A reconstructed, Burgess-Wright biplane circa 1920 hangs from the terminal ceiling, the mezzanine level includes an exhibit highlighting Native American Abenaki culture, and installations throughout the airport feature Vermont artists and historical photos.
